We have learnt that Sacraments are sacred actions of the Church through which God is present. In the Sacraments of Baptism words, actions and symbols are used to communicate God’s presence and action.
Words, actions and symbols used in Baptism: water, oil, candle, white garment, sign of the cross, baptismal promises
We remembered times when we have attended a Baptism.
“I remember that I had oil on my chest and I had water pouring down my head.” Jasmin.
“I went up to Father Joseph and I saw water get tipped over a baby.” Bailey.
“When I was three I got the special dress on and the candle.” Summah.
“After the Baptism we had cake.” Annie.
“I saw Father Joseph putting some oil on my brothers’ head and then we had to stand up and he had something like a dress on.” Mikayla.
