OUTSIDE SCHOOL HOURS CARE

 

Well hello to everyone!  Sorry we have had no correspondence until now.  The computer and telephone systems are up and working so we will be able to communicate better and keep you informed.

 

For those of you who don’t already know OSHC is a school age care service providing care for Before - After school care and Vacation Care.  All staff have qualifications and are current holders of Blue cards and first aid certificates.  We are encouraged to regularly participate in professional development programmes and are managed by Centacare Childcare Services.  Leanne Cain is our Regional Coordinator for this area and assists both Star Kids Club and Xavier OSHC.

 

Corrin Miles, Advanced Diploma qualified; currently manages Before School Care offering breakfast and activities to keep children entertained and offer parents a stress free morning.  Due to numbers if you should need care casually please contact us so we can inform you of availability, keeping numbers within ratio - one carer per fifteen children.  Due to current before school care needs we are reviewing changes to our starting time at 6.30am – 8.30am.  We are looking at changing this to 7.00am - 8.30am and 8.45am for prep enrolments to help them settle into the day.  If you have any concerns with these changes please email and let us know at torquayoshc@bne.centacare.net.au . 

 

After school care is managed by Pam Fidge, Advanced Diploma Qualified, with Marg O’Neil and Corrin Miles as assistants.  Ray Chapman is currently coordinating Active After School Care on Thursday and Friday afternoon commencing at 3.45pm for an hour.  Active After School Care is a government funded project offering healthy eating programmes and physical activities to reduce childhood obesity.  Ray has a Diploma in Sports and Recreation and is a great asset to our programme.

 

We are seeking the support of the school community to increase numbers.  If you need additional care or casual care we look forward to new enrolments.  Parents at university are able to get government assistance through Jet funding depending on eligibility and pay as little as 10 cents per hour.  Parents who have children in another service are eligible to extra child percentages reducing their childcare fees.  If you require more information please contact staff at the service on 41256051.
